Document No. 3
At one time we lived at the
top of a very steep hill
and this is what we called it
and
at the bottom of that very steep
hill was a creek and it
rushed and there were tangles
of grapevine and things.
The hill sunk and rose small in places.
The hill had names
we gave it like mountains and
the open air
the
air.
And this is how we saved it.
That despite the threats to the archive
(overcapacity, fire)
and how mother swore to deer and
hawks and owls the unkempt
perimeters that father
said, look this is how you know where it ends
we incised it but slowly
decades
grandmother
where the creek headed, said,
there was once a mock-orange here,
the miscellaneous bamboo.
