Book Manuscripts

Sidebrow will hold an open reading period for unpublished book-length manuscripts of prose, poetry, cross-genre, and collaborative work during the month of August.

There will be a $20 reading fee for each manuscript submitted. As thanks for helping develop Sidebrow's collaborative projects, Sidebrow contributors will be offered a discounted reading fee of $10 per manuscript. All writers who submit during the open reading period will receive a complimentary Sidebrow title.

Simultaneous submissions will be considered where noted, but we ask you to notify us promptly should your manuscript be accepted elsewhere. Work published in part as a chapbook will be considered, as long as the manuscript in its current form has not been previously published.

The results of this reading period will be sent via email by April 2011. Accepted works will be slated for publication in 2011 and 2012. Sidebrow reserves the right to forgo publication should no manuscript received during the open reading period be deemed suitable for publication.

Please send your manuscript, cover letter, and check for the required reading fee to the address below. Checks should be made payable to Sidebrow. Those interested in receiving a complimentary Sidebrow title should also include an 8x10 self-addressed mailer with $2.77 postage. Please write the title of the book you wish to receive on the back of the mailer. Those interested in receiving acknowledgment of receipt of their submission should also include a stamped, self-addressed postcard.

Please include biographical information, mailing address, and email address with your cover letter. There is no need to include an SASE with your submission for response. All future correspondence will be conducted via email, and all manuscripts will be recycled.

Manuscripts not postmarked in the month of August will be discarded.

Those unfamiliar with Sidebrow are encouraged to explore our press before submitting by purchasing one of our titles.

Sidebrow strongly encourages you to submit your work via email. Submissions should be sent as .doc, .rtf, or .pdf attachments, with multiple submissions contained in a single file. Please provide your name and submission type (e.g., poetry) or suggested project (e.g., Ghost) in the subject line, providing full contact information, including address, in the body of your message, and send to submit (at) sidebrow (dot) net.

Submissions are also accepted by mail. Please provide SASE for response and full contact information, including email, when submitting to the following address:
